"Because a product is only as good as its weakest failure point, every seam is a promise of performance."
Chi Vu Duong | Pattern Engineer & Technical DeveloperI operate at the intersection of kinetic geometry and manufacturing reality. My approach is defined by an obsession with the mechanics of construction: moving beyond the pattern to solve for the machine. From the articulated systems of the 360° Trek Pant to the multi-state logic of modular carry, I build gear that functions as a trusted interface between the user and the environment. This work is the bridge between my forensic roots in the Pacific Northwest and the manufacturing intensity of Ho Chi Minh City.
My process is a relentless loop of in-depth research and trial, dissecting how materials and systems fail to find more resilient solutions. I don’t create to satisfy my personal need to make but rather for the integrity of the object. I strive to reinvent what’s already considered “the best" because the potential for advancement is endless and the work is never finished.
I build for longevity because I value utility over the aesthetic, the core over the shell. A jacket, sleeping bag, or even a small fanny pack should be a witness to a journey over decades, not seasons. While all gear eventually fails, I go above and beyond to delay that inevitability. Designing a product that can hold that depth of meaning through years of use is the most profound and honorable aspect of my craft.
